Today Friday
27 we went to the UPLA (Universidad De Playa Ancha) with our English teacher
Sir Julio Uribe to listen to three different presentations, all of them about English
literature, the first one about the book “white teeth” written by Zadie Smith
and exposed by Michelle Prime, the second one was about “The city of last
things” and “1984” both of them exposed by three students of the university and
the last one was a presentation of “The kite runner” written by Khaled Hosseini
and presented by our teacher Julio
Uribe, this presentation was special because it make people think and reflection
about what is home. Sir Julio connected
topics using the concept of roots, like something that can grow anywhere, they
are not always in where you are living right know, just like in the kite runner,
the roots of Amir where in the U.S.A and not in Afghanistan where he used to
live. In my personal opinion Sir Julio’s presentation was the best not only
because the book he choose is excellent but because the way he presented was different
than the other, and it had an enormous impact in the audience that where
listening very quiet and respectful .
